Well, I actually didn't fulfill my goal of updating this site more often...but I have a proper excuse!
Towards the end of June I bought a skateboard (a surfskate to be more specific, though when I bought it I
thought it was a cruiser board), and the first day I tried to ride it I thought I did pretty fine so I didn't
bother to look for any tutorials or anything. Come next day, I go out early in the morning to practice riding,
and probably because I didn't bother to practice my balance or how to fall properly (and add to that that
surfskates feel pretty wobbly), I lost my balance and fell on my back. That wasn't the issue though, I didn't
fall hard or anything, but on the way down I twisted my ankle which started swelling and hurting a few minutes
after, so I thought I had an ankle sprain.
A couple days later I decided to go to the doctor and get some x-rays done just in case (and also so I could
take a doctor's notice so I could have a few days off work to rest my injury)...turns out it wasn't just a
sprain, I fractured my foot LOL. More than anything else, it was just very frustrating that I've been unable
to walk for over a month, because of a silly fall which didn't even hurt. Lesson learned.
Because of that, I wasn't able to come to my room upstairs (where I have my computer) in my house and was
bound to live in the living room for a month. Just last week the doctor took off my cast and said I could
start walking little by little, it hurt a good bit initially but right now I'm more or less able to walk even
without using the crutches (though I still do use one to be safe).
Anyhow, that aside! A couple days ago I decided to install Linux Mint, since Microsoft is ending support for
Windows 10 in a few months (boooo) and I'm not a fan of Windows 11 with all the AI nonsence and other bloat it
comes with (and I'm not sure if I can even run it on this computer).
I've had experience with Linux before, namely Manjaro, which I used back around 2018 (?) for a few months.
That didn't help much coming into Mint though, as there's a lot of things I've forgotten LOL, but I think I'm
starting to figure things out, more or less. So far I've just got some of the basic stuff I use my computer
for set up, namely listen to music (took a while to find a player I was comfortable with! I'm seriously gonna
miss MusicBee, but Fooyin more or less meets my demands so far), browse the web and such. I'll have to try
setting up Steam as well sometime soon.
Since I'm feeling too lazy to switch back to Windows (I have both installed while I decide if I wanna commit
to Linux), I had to figure out how to set up Neovim all over again, which is probably gonna be very time
consuming lol but hopefully not as bad as the first time. Though I do have the very basics working already,
just gonna have to figure out the quality of life configurations I was using.
Also, I've been playing the hell out of Umamusume on my phone. Yeah I'm addicted to the horse game.
Send off.
